Use Your Android Phone as a Game Controller in Beach Buggy Racing

UPDATEAs of version 1.2.14, the Mobile Controller feature has been disabled.  Unfortunately the technical side of this was difficult to maintain, and only a handful of users were utilizing it.  For those of you who used it and liked it, we're sorry to have to take the feature away.

The latest update of Beach Buggy Racing (1.2.6) has been released to Google Play, and if you're an Android TV owner we've got something special in store for you.

Beach Buggy Racing now supports something called "Nearby Connections", which means that if you play BBR on your Android TV, you can use your phone as an additional game controller.  Google Developers made a video showing the feature in action:

Here's a little more detail on how to set it up:

  1. Make sure your Android TV and phone both have the latest version of BBR installed (1.2.6 or higher)
  2. Start up the game on Android TV
  3. Start up the game on your phone or tablet
  4. Click the "Mobile Controller" button that appears in the upper left corner of the title screen

That's it!  Once you're paired, your phone screen will switch into controller mode and you can play BBR on Android TV using the on-screen buttons.  When you race in game, you'll be able to steer with tilt controls and you get a nifty speedometer and tachometer/shift indicator.

We hope you enjoy the new feature.  It's fun to play with in single player mode, but it's even better when you're playing split screen with a few friends.  Enjoy!
